Commodity Buyer

Spring, TX

Direct hire Supply Chain Procurement Buyer

A global manufacturer of engineered metal storage and containment systems is hiring a Commodity Buyer to run day-to-day purchasing for MRO, machine and replacement parts, production hardware, indirect supplies, and subcontracted goods and services at its Texas production facility. You keep maintenance, operations, and the plant floor supplied: cutting and expediting POs, chasing acknowledgments and lead times, clearing invoice and delivery issues, and keeping ERP data accurate, while escalating anything outside your lane to the Senior Buyer or Purchasing Manager. It is a strong seat for a buyer who knows MRO and indirect spend and wants a stable manufacturer with room to grow.

  • Up to $89K, based on experience
  • Full suite of benefits, 401K w/match, PTO/Holiday

Overview

  • Create and manage POs for MRO, machine parts, replacement components, tools, safety items, consumables, hardware, and subcontract
  • Expedite, confirm delivery, correct invoices, and coordinate logistics; escalate shortages and supplier risk
  • Support RFQs: pull quotes, confirm requirements, organize bids, and give factual comparisons
  • Read bills of material, part specs, and quotes to identify the right machine and maintenance parts; confirm substitutions
  • Run hardware and subcontract buys from request through delivery and receiving
  • Keep supplier, item, vendor, PO, and contract-reference data clean in the ERP
  • Partner with maintenance, operations, engineering, and project teams on daily and emergency needs
  • Support inventory with min/max, Kanban, vending, consignment, blanket orders, and VMI reviews
  • Feed PPV, KPI, and spend reporting using Excel and Power BI

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Bachelor’s in Supply Chain, Business, Operations, or a related field, or equivalent experience
  • APICS, CPSM, or comparable supply chain or procurement certification (preferred)
  • Strongly Preferred – 2+ years of purchasing or supply-chain experience in manufacturing, maintenance, or industrial
  • Strongly Preferred – hands-on MRO, machine-parts, hardware, and subcontract buying
  • Hands-on D365 or comparable ERP/MRP, with strong Excel
  • Familiar with inventory programs: min/max, Kanban, vending, consignment, blanket orders, VMI (preferred)
  • Industrial distribution or storeroom program experience (preferred)
  • Power BI reporting (preferred)
